W E E K 1

Prayer for the first Sunday of Advent:
Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness,
and put upon us the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in
which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last
day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the
quick and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who live
and reign with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Daily Readings:

First Sunday: Genesis 3:1-15, The fall of man and the first promise of the Messiah is revealed.

Monday: Genesis 22:15-18, God promises to faithful Abraham that in his seed all nations shall be blessed.

Tuesday: Isaiah 7:14 & 9:2-7, Christ’s birth and kingdom are foretold by the prophet Isaiah.

Wednesday: Isaiah 11:1-9, A rod shall come forth from the stem of Jesse.

Thursday: Micah 5:2-4, The glory of little Bethlehem is foretold by the prophet Micah.

Friday: Malachi 4:1-3, The Sun of Righteousness, the Daystar, shall rise.

Saturday: Numbers 24:15-19; 2 Peter 1:19; Revelation 22:16, The verity of the prophecies are confirmed.

Prayer for the second Sunday of Advent:
Merciful God, who did send thy messengers the prophets to preach
repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: GIve us grace to heed
their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming
of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who live and reign with thee and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

Stir up thy power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and,
because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let thy bountiful grace and
mercy speedily help and deliever us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to
whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be honor and glory, world without
end. Amen.

Wednesday: Matthew 1:18-25, The angel of the Lord comes to Joseph in a dream.

Prayer for the fourth Sunday of Advent:
We beseech thee, Almighty God, to purify our consciences by thy daily
visitation, that when thy Son our Lord come he may find in us a mansion
prepared for himself; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who live and
reign with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

Thursday: Luke 2:15-20, The shepherds go to the manger.

Friday: Philippians 2:5-11, The humility of Christ.

Saturday: Titus 2:11-3:7, The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
