Looking for quality children’s clothing, toys, and accessories at a fraction of the cost of new items? The Shadow of His Wings Consignment Sale is just the place! Consignors bring their gently used items (newborn to junior sizes) to sell, and we host this event twice a year—once in the spring for Spring/Summer items, and again in the fall for Fall/Winter items.
Our History
Originally founded over 20 years ago in Mt. Sterling as the Children’s Rerun Sale by Lisa Fruth atThe First United Methodist Church, the sale was acquired by Danielle Hensley in 2020. With help from Lisa, Danielle, who has a heart for both domestic and foreign missions, saw the potential for the sale to become a fundraising and ministry partnership opportunity for the James Project of Latin America (JPLA) in Monjas, Guatemala. Having served as a short-term missionary to JPLA in 2003, Danielle continues to lead mission teams from the community to this day.
Established in 2002 by two women from the United States, the James Project of Latin America exists to ensure children in Guatemala learn about God’s love while receiving care for their physical and emotional needs. What began with a single child in Guatemala City has since grown into a thriving initiative serving over 100 children. JPLA also manages a teenage pregnancy home, a widows ministry, a Christian school, and a preschool on more than 15 acres of land approximately 3.5 hours outside Guatemala City. How the Sale Helps
Not only does the sale provide families in Montgomery County and surrounding areas with affordable children’s items, it also benefits consignors who earn money from their sales. Proceeds help support the James Project of Latin America and its daily operations, which includes pregnancy center, widows ministry, Christian school, all on 15 acres approximately 3.5 hours outside of Guatemala City. Additionally, proceeds from the sale also help fund mission team trips for a week of service at the project. Lastly, a portion of the proceeds also goes back to local churches, assisting them in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Shadow of His Wings Consignment Sale seeks to glorify God in local missions — right in our own backyard — and abroad. (For more information about JPLA, visit jamesproject.org)
Get Involved
There are plenty of ways to take part in this ministry—whether as a consignor, a volunteer, or both! Volunteers are needed for setup, takedown, and checkout during the sale.
